A guide to maintaining the brilliance and longevity of your W.J. Sanders pieces

Silver Care

All W.J. Sanders products come with care instructions
Do not place silverware in the dishwasher. Instead, rinse silverware and gold-plated products with hot soapy water only and dry immediately with a microfiber cloth to prevent staining
Use a W.J. Sanders silver cloth to gently wipe away light surface marks like fingerprints
For stubborn tarnishing, use a good quality silver polish like W.J. Sanders Silver Polish Spray. Spray the polish on the silver and with a soft, non-abrasive cloth remove the tarnish. Rinse with water if a build-up of polish accumulates and buff lightly with a silver cloth for a high luster
Always store your W.J. Sanders silver in the storage pouch provided. Doing so will limit its exposure to moisture and prevent scratching from items rubbing together

Use a W.J. Sanders gold cloth to gently wipe away light surface marks. This specially designed cloth is effective in maintaining the luster of your gold pieces without causing any abrasions
Use a reputable gold and silver polish, such as W.J. Sanders Silver Spray, for stubborn tarnishing. Spray on affected areas, gently remove tarnish with a soft cloth, and, if polish builds up, rinse with water. Buff lightly with a gold cloth for a high luster
It is not advisable to place goldware or silver gilded items in the dishwasher. Instead, rinse them with hot soapy water only. Dry using a microfiber cloth to avoid staining and maintain the integrity of your precious items
Store gold items in a cool, dry place away from sunlight, keeping each piece separate or in soft pouches to prevent scratches and tarnishing. Avoid contact with other metals
Take off your gold jewellery before swimming or showering to avoid tarnishing from chlorine, saltwater, and harsh chemicals, as prolonged water exposure can weaken the jewellery

Handle and store birthstones carefully to prevent scratches or damage
Regularly check for loose stones, damaged prongs, or wear. Address issues promptly to prevent damage. Schedule annual professional cleaning and inspections for secure settings and pristine gemstones
Clean gemstone set items with a diluted mild, phosphate-free detergent in lukewarm water. Gently scrub with a soft toothbrush to remove dirt, avoiding abrasive materials that could scratch the metal or harm sensitive gemstones
Handle delicate gemstones such as pearls, opals, and turquoise with care. Protect them from moisture, chemicals, and exposure to water, perfumes, and household chemicals to prevent damage or discolouration
